Lisa Castro
MSW, MBA, LCSW, CCTP, RYT500
Lisa Castro, a licensed clinical social worker and board-certified social work supervisor, brings a wealth of experience to her private practice, established in 2006, while concurrently holding leadership roles in mental health across various hospital systems in Virginia, Texas, and New York.
Lisa has a passion for treating trauma and believes that many symptoms of anxiety, depression, and attention, have their roots in trauma. Trauma can come from a single big event or many small events that occur over a long time. Trauma can even be passed down through generations. These events impact how our nervous systems function, which in turn, affects how we respond to stressors in our daily lives.
Lisa's approach works with the mind and the nervous system to help restore balance, reduce anxiety, and reactivity, and improve focus, and mood.
In talk therapy, she incorporates CBT, psychodynamic, and inner child work interventions. As a certified yoga instructor, she also offers the unique opportunity to integrate yoga therapy into sessions. Lisa is also one of the few people in Richmond who offer Somatic Experiencing treatment for trauma.
Lisa holds not only a Masters in Social Work but also a Masters in Business Administration in Healthcare. Her extensive qualifications include certifications as a Certified Yoga Instructor, 500 hours, Certified Meditation Instructor, Somatic Experiencing (SE) Trainee, Certified Stress Management Instructor, and Certified Level I Trauma Counselor.
With a career that commenced with clients with substance use disorders, Lisa later specialized in working with children and families. Over the past almost 20 years, she has collaborated with mental health leaders, treating adults, adolescents, and children dealing with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, and thought disorders.
If you are seeking a licensed clinical social worker with a holistic approach and diverse therapeutic interventions, Lisa Castro would be a wonderful fit. Her practice welcomes clients aged 10 and above, offering individual therapy with a focus on anxiety, depression, and trauma.
